RESPONSIBILITY IS NOT PERFECTION

RESPONSIBILITY IS NOT PERFECTION

It is important to say something else.

Responsible consumption does not mean perfect consumption.

No product exists without some environmental or social impact.

Materials have to be produced.

People have to work.

Products have to be transported.

Resources are used.

The goal should not be to pretend that a product has no impact.

Instead, we can become more conscious of the choices involved.

Where can we reduce unnecessary consumption?

Where can existing materials be used?

Where can products be made to last longer?

Where can makers be valued?

Where can something be repaired instead of replaced?

These are practical questions.

And practical questions often lead to better choices than broad labels.
